Caravans have formed every year because, but over time, they have become both more frequent and smaller, in an effort to attract less attention.
The nationality of the people in the caravans has also changed. In 2018, most people came from Central America. Recently, due to changing migration patterns, Venezuelans have become the largest single group. People from other countries can also be found in South America. One woman in a recent caravan had brought her Bible from Peru.
