Later this week, a popular character shooter Marvel Rivals launch its first major holiday-themed event. The new winter update will add new costumes for several characters, as well as a new one Splatoon– like a mode that only features Jeff the Landshark.
Marvel Rivals which launched earlier this month on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. The free-to-play third-person hero shooter has quickly become one of the biggest games of the year, with hundreds of thousands of players logging in every day, just on Steam alone. And now, just a few weeks after launch, developer NetEase has announced the first major in-game event for Marvel Rivalsand as you'd expect, it's Christmas themed.
On December 16, NetEase released a trailer for “The Winter Celebration,” a new update coming to all platforms. The update goes live on December 20th and brings new winter outfits for Venom, Magik, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. All players will be able to earn free ski-themed skins for Jeff the Land Sharka cute, tiny healer who is hated by some players because of his small size and powerful ultimate ability.

And no, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. In that trailer four Jeff the Landsharks fight four other Jeffs in a manner that seems to annoy people who hate this little healer. Meanwhile, as someone who loves Jeff and plays with him a lot, I'm excited about this new mode and Jeff's adorable ski suit.
Interestingly, this new limited holiday mode appears to be basically an attractive version of Nintendo's Splatoon. Four Jeffs make four other Jeffs throw snow across the map and try to cover as much as they can before time runs out. So it seems that NetEase is willing to draw from other games further afield Overwatch for “encouragement.”
