The UN offers condolences after a car entered the German Christmas market


The United Nations has expressed shock after a man rammed a car into a Christmas market in the German city center of Magdeburg on Friday.

“We are shocked by the news of today's attack in Magdeburg, Germany,” UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said in a statement.

“We send our condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the Government and the people of the Federal Republic of Germany. We wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

At least two people were killed, including a small child, and 60 were injured in the incident, authorities said.
