There is plenty of seasonality in monthly budget numbers but this is the largest deficit since August and compared to a deficit of $314 billion last November. The Treasury Department said calendar changes for benefit payments boosted costs by about $80B compared to the same month in 2023.
There are no easy solutions here but Americans could to work longer before collecting Social Security.
