XRP travels to near highs
Ripple's cryptocurrency, XRP, soared to an all-time high, peaking at $3.31 with an increase of 6.35% in 24 hours.
Rising optimism around Ripple has fueled the charge. There is more buzz about the approval of XRP-based Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and favorable developments in the long-running legal battle with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple in 2020, accusing the company of making unregistered securities offerings. However, recent rulings have taken a positive turn for Ripple, with a judge fining it $125M – far below the SEC's original request of $2B.
The SEC's appeal will follow as expected. But with President Trump set to take office soon, many investors expect the more crypto-friendly regulatory environment to decrease the likelihood of the SEC winning any particular conversion.
In the meantime, the leadership of Ripple has expressed confidence in the possibility that the XRP ETF will follow in the footsteps of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF.
