Ubisoft is finally adding steam achievements to the Old Far Cry games

Long cry 3 was released over a decade ago, and while it supported achievements on Ubisoft's own console and PC launcher, it didn't include any Steam achievements. But as Ubisoft returns to Steam, it also goes back and adds the challenges that older games need, including Long cry 3. And even better, Ubisoft is removing now unavailable co-op achievements, too.

Earlier this week, Ubisoft officially announced that Long cry 3 now it has Steam achievements. Even better, they sync with Ubisoft Connect, so if you played the game years ago and solved all the challenges, you should be able to upload Long cry 3 today on Steam and get all your achievements. Nice!

Fortunately, Ubisoft removed six achievements from Long cry 3 which was linked to the game's online multiplayer modes. In 2022, Ubisoft shut down the servers for FC3the online methodsand therefore it is impossible to achieve (legitimately) solve these six achievements in 2025. Taking them away was the right call. It's also a good reminder why devs shouldn't include online multiplayer performance in a game that has an offline campaign, unless you plan on keeping the servers up forever. (Also Xbox and Sony should remove achievements from games with dead online modes!)

Released in 2012, Long cry 3 arguably the game that made the franchise the AAA juggernaut it is today. The open world action game featured lush jungles, animals to hunt, and plenty of enemy posts to overcome. But on Steam the game didn't support achievements, even though Long cry 3 were on PC through Ubisoft's own launcher. Remember when Ubisoft was weird about Steamand his games jumped on the stage or arrived with missing features? yes, FC3Steam features were lacking because of that.

Anyway, times have changed and Ubisoft is returning to Valve's popular digital store in an effort to win back players and grow their audience. Over the past few weeks, Ubisoft has added Steam achievements Long cry 4 and Long cry 5 apart from Assassin's Creed Unity, Black Flag, Revelations, and Syndicate.

As for newer Ubisoft games on Valve's launcher like Mirag and Prohibitionthey now launch with full performance support. That's great and all, but maybe Ubisoft can remove the need for faff with Ubisoft Connect when trying to play Steam games. A man can dream.
