That Drake filed an official defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), accusing the company of spreading the false claim that he is a pedophile through legendary Kendrick Lamar's discography, “Or Like Us” has upset many in the Hip-Hop community.
But a group of individuals who happen to be named deep in the complaint are particularly disturbing. On pages 52 and 53 of the long suitlawyers for the Toronto rapper named several content creators and said UMG allowed those people to make reactions to Lamar's diss track without enforcing copyright claims.
Drake believes this helped spread the false claims that he is a child predator and is an example of the company prioritizing money over 6-God's reputation.
The content creators involved in the suit are some of the most popular online. They include Kai CenatNoLifeShaq, RDC Gaming, Cartier Family, and Zias.
Their comments on Lamar's disc track collected millions of views, with the lowest getting 2 million (Cartier Family) and the highest getting 9 million (Kai Cenat).
Answers from content creators
Naturally, the aforementioned creators (and many who weren't) are unhappy with Drizzy and have criticized him on social media and other online platforms.
Perhaps the loudest is No Life Shaq, who posted a 10-minute long YouTube video titled, “DRAKE SNITCHED ON ME!”
In the video, he says, “This n***a that Drake did was affecting the reactions community! N***a we're chillin', having fun, and you got a list in a case for us? This has got to be the smartest n*** ever, dog.”
RDC Gaming responded while on stream by simply saying, “One thing I've learned in life is this… The biggest 'Ls' come from not knowing how to take an 'L.' Some n**** just took an L and moved on.”
Zias seems to have had the most explosive reaction when he found out he was named in the lawsuit, and even jokingly called a lawyer to tell them he was against Drake.
Now, remember that these are just opinions from people named in the suit. Several other content creators who responded to “Not Like Us” (and Drake's tracks) shared similar sentiments and continued to criticize the Toronto rapper for his decision to name content creators in his suit.
Response from social media
Frustrated hip-hop fans on X pointed out that Drake was only naming Black streamers who responded “Not Like Us, and not the white ones.
One user wrote“LOL COUNT I realized Drake was snooping on the black streams that responded to his video and not the white ones lol. “
Added by another user“Drake called all the Black Streams his case and now he's doing a sweepstakes with Adin Ross.”
This just adds to the long list of reasons why Drake should not have taken legal action and we are seeing in real time the consequences of his actions, dating back to a year ago when he asked Lamar “let go, let go, let gop.”
